Nursing Assistant: Infection Prevention and Control
The Infection Control Training will highlight the importance of infection prevention procedures, and the impact of healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs).
This course introduce you to the epidemiology of healthcare associated infection, prevention strategies for different types of infection and healthcare environments and the evidence underpinning them; antimicrobial stewardship, surveillance and audit as tools for driving infection prevention.
This Infection Control Training will give you an overview of hospital-acquired infections, standard precautions to be practiced by the staff and patients to reduce infection transmissions. This includes safe handling of sharps, sterilisation procedures for equipment and the surrounding environment, and the management of body fluids and blood. You’ll also be able to develop your ability to assess and manage infection risks in a variety of healthcare settings and use appropriate evidence to plan, implement and evaluate appropriate infection prevention and control programmes
