  1. Good, basic introduction. Poor attention to detail.

This is a good introduction to Learning and Development. The content is broken down into easily manageable chunks of reading that will provide an insight into the role and its challenges as well as explaining key vocabulary that is used within the industry. This makes it very digestible and easy to fit around existing work commitments.

Overall the approach is very passive and doesn’t require any application of learning: you simply read each module and tick to say you’ve completed the section.

The course is however let down slightly by some niggles that come about due to a lack of attention to detail. There are various punctuation and grammatical errors which, although minor, shouldn’t appear in a serious education course.

More grating was the mock test. Some of the wording was really poor and I had to read the questions several times alongside the answers to try and work out what the question was actually asking.

I ran the test a couple of times, just to be confident when I took the final exam. In both cases, one particular question came up. In both cases, I gave the same answer. In both cases, when reviewing my results, the question was marked as wrong, whilst it showed the correct answer as, you guessed it, the answer I had submitted. It even showed my submitted answer next to the required answer – both were the same. For some, this could be the difference between pass and fail!

Was this same error repeated in the final exam? I don’t know because I have to pay to get the transcript of my exam. You do however get the outcome (i.e. pass or fail) immediately and, as stated in the course information, you can pay extra to get a certificate.
