Course Overview
This ATHE Level 3 Award in Education and Training provides an introduction to teaching and/or training, and requires no previous teaching/training experience. Designed to provide learners with the skills to deliver education and training in any learning environment, it explores the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training, theories of learning, and other key areas.
If you’re looking to work as a teacher in the further education and skills sector, then this course is perfect for you. You’ll learn about the assessment process and how to involve learners, assess your own skills, provide feedback and maintain an inclusive learning environment. It also teaches how to identify individual pupils’ learning requirements.
This course includes both practical and theoretical knowledge that can be applied in a real-world context, and all lessons have been designed in such a way that anyone with no prior knowledge on them can easily dive into them.

Who is This Course for?
This ATHE Level 3 Award in Education and Training applies to the following:
- Those already working in the education sector who wish to develop their skills
- Those studying for their teaching qualification
- Individuals currently working as assessors who want to gain a teaching qualification
Total Qualification Time
Total Qualification Time is comprised of GLH and an estimate of the number of hours a learner is likely to spend in preparation, study or any other learning including assessment, which takes place as directed by, but not under the supervision of a lecturer, supervisor or tutor. The credit value, where given, for a qualification is determined by TQT, as one credit corresponds to 10 hours of learning.
Total Qualification Time for this qualification is 120 hours.
Guided Learning Hours
GLH for this qualification is 48 as you’ll only have to complete the mandatory units.
Method of Assessment:
- Three written assignments
- One micro teaching session (which can be submitted as a recorded video)
Please Note: You are required to pay £199 at the time of submission of assignments in your learning portal for Formal Qualification.
Requirement:
- You must be over the age of 18
- 5 or more GCSEs at grades C and above
- Other equivalent international qualifications
- You must also have an appropriate standard of English, Maths and IT
- For those whom English is not their first language, IELTs 5.5 or an approved equivalent is recommended
